The following month, Microsoft is about to release the next major Windows 10 update called, appropriately enough, Windows 10 October 2018 Update. As usual, this update offers various improvements and features to the platform when it drops. This update might not be as large as the April Update however it will bring features like enhanced Storage Sense, a Your Photos desktop pin, an updated Emoji panel, more Fluent Design user interface improvements, multitasking Sets, and improved game modes.
If you’re looking to get the update once it really is available, take into account that it may be another large download (stated to be around 10GB) so ensure you clear enough space. And also worse, Microsoft is currently actually warning users to make sure that they have enough space for that update files on their Windows 10 machines … if not…
Microsoft’s new Windows Update warning. Microsoft has started issuing warnings to Office 2016 Pro Plus For Sale with limited space for storage. The warning states should your system doesn’t have adequate space, it may forget to initialize after running Windows Update. The warning is mainly forwarded to “thin clients” and “embedded systems,” but it should also apply to older Windows 10 machines with limited 32GB storage.
Odds are, with the sizes of all of the recent major Windows 10 updates, those who own these sorts of machines always get these “Windows needs extra space” warnings during each update. However, here is the first-time that users happen to be warned with this specific failure. “Windows Update does not check systems for adequate space requirements before it initializes,” Microsoft’s warning states.
With regards to fix? Well, in a way, Microsoft is blaming you should your computer fails to boot when attempting an update due to inadequate storage area. The company recommends a “regular regimen of system maintenance,” implying that you should constantly check your storage space, and manually get rid of unnecessary and temporary files regularly.
To make for major updates, especially if you have limited space, Microsoft recommends that users clear temporary files, old downloads, empty the recycle bin, and uninstall unused applications as frequently as you can. Consider getting another drive for your personal files as well as better, move your photos, videos, music as well as other files to a cloud service too. Storage Sense is a handy feature in Windows 10 that will automatically delete files which you don’t need. This data includes temporary files, recycle bin data, installation files and previous versions of Windows. It’s the first tool you should try should your hard drive space is running thin.
In November of 2017, Microsoft quietly announced it was turning off its free Windows 10 upgrade program. Should you didn’t get the free version of their best operating-system up to now, well, that you were basically at a complete loss. Or, so that we thought.
Recently I discovered that Windows 10 updates still work just as they always had, and I’m currently running a version on a pieced together PC after upgrading from the working version of Windows 8.1. It’s not as cut and dry, as Microsoft has deleted the tool that creates each of our lives simpler when upgrading, though with a small little work you also can upgrade older versions of Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 to your fully-functioning version of Windows 10.
As of October 12, 2018, this method still works. I took an HP Pravilion Elite HPE-367cb, and did a clean install over the OS (Windows 7 Home) and replaced it with a clean install of Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and after that zhatrd install used a key from an old copy of Windows 7 Home which process worked. It granted the digital license and then i allowed it to connect to my Microsoft account. The install loaded each of the drivers..for that standard equipment that came with that model. I needed to load graphics drivers, however i might have done that anyway because I swapped the older card to get a newer ATI card.
